Pressing Through the Crowd

A very well-known man had come to town. Crowds of people were gathered to catch a glimpse of him. One man tried especially hard to get through, because he could not see over the others. So great was his desire to see him that in desperation he climbed up into a nearby tree. To his amazement, the visitor approached the tree. Looking up at him, he called him by his name, "Hello!, I'm very pleased that you have gone to all this trouble to see me. Come on down," the stranger beckoned, "and I'll come over to your house." The little man was so excited that he almost fell hurrying down from the tree.
The crowd, knowing of the greed and corruption in the life of the man in the tree, grumbled that this man of spotless reputation, whom they presently revered, would even stop to speak to such a one, much less visit his home. However, the man, who had been willing to go to extraordinary lengths in his determination to see the benevolent stranger, turned completely from his old way of life. He gave half his wealth to the poor, and agreed to restore four-fold that which he had taken from anyone illegally. He and his whole family became followers of the man.
The crowd continued to berate the repentant man and to complain, saying that Jesus should have nothing to do with him. He answered them saying. "You all don't seem to be aware of your need for repentance and deliverance, but this man of questionable reputation wanted healing so badly that, recognizing his need, he was determined to press in until he reached me. I am not looking for those who think they are alright and that they have no need, but for those who know they are sinners and that they need help. They are the ones I have come to seek and to save. Revelation 3:17, Luke 19:10.
You do not have to become holy to seek God's forgiveness. As Jesus was passing by and knew Zaccheaus' name, He is passing by you right now and knows your name. He bids you to come to Him and let Him heal your life and save you. He enables you by His Spirit then to live a new life. As the old hymn says, "Just as I am, without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me, oh Lamb of God, I come."

Jesus is standing at the door to your heart all the time. He is knocking to come in and love you and guide you. He is offering you the gift of everlasting life, but you must hear Him and open the door to Him as He will not kick it in. (Rev. 3:20) A gift is just outside your heart's door at this time. Will you receive this gift? Will you open the door to Jesus and let him flood your soul with His love? If so, read the following paragraph as your prayer.

Father, I know that I have sinned and I turn from those ways and ask you to come into my heart and cleanse me. I know that I cannot do this on my own and I need your help. Fill my soul, Lord, and make me whole. I want your will for my life to be preeminent. Help me to grow in your way.
    Amen
