Rev. Kenn Francart There has been a rash of television shows that depict demons coming up out of the ground that at one time were, to the best of their recollection, people from this life that died and now return to accomplish whatever vicious atrocities crosses their demented minds. These vampires robustly enjoy the brutalities of having lived for a long, long time after having been infected by the bite of another of their ilk without ever knowing where the first biter came from. Now they continue their line by biting more and more people that either die or are reduced to their lowest common denominator, joining the throng of desperate confused and ever-multiplying servile minions. The demons are portrayed as following the prince of darkness as their leader and nowhere is that more clearly defined than when scenes are shown that take us, as viewers, into the depths of underground lairs and tunnels to the very heart of hell itself. So all this must be true as the viewers can plainly see the devil on the throne of stone and all his demons running around like blithering idiots. Right? Wrong! This is what the producers, actors and directors of these made-up tales want you to believe, but it is far from the truth. The glory depicted of these characters is false. Are there demons and lost souls trying to ensnare the upright and just people of the world? Do vampires exist? Are they walking around on the face of the earth to see whom they may devour? The answer to all these questions is a resounding NO! In Matthew 10:1 there are unclean spirits mentioned and in Matthew 12:28, they are called devils by Jesus. In Mark 5:8 Jesus calls them unclean spirits to their face and we find they have names, in this case they are called Legion. They can take over a living body and control it, but Jesus has power over them. It is also a bit of a stretch to think that they would inhabit a deceased body or a skeleton of a body to do their dirty work. Their validity as a monster of any sort would be grossly impaired. Now to consider where these unclean spirits come from. Revelations 12:9 says: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." As Lucifer, the Son of the morning, (Isa 14:12) was cast out of Heaven, he took a third of the stars (angels) with him. These are the unclean spirits that the devil now has as his followers. These fallen angels became converted to their lower form as they rejected the one true God and exited His presence. Now they take their revenge out on the children of God because they know the way back to God's presence is closed off for them eternally. Can the unclean spirits set up rule on earth, as is depicted in these theatrical productions? No! Is Satan ever going to overthrow God? No! Will Satan have his way with this world? Yes, but the believers, the sons and daughters of God, are not destined be in that world! Devils or Unclean Spirits are in full knowledge that they have lost the battle and ultimately will lose the war. They are intelligent beings, along with Satan, they are to be pitied because their misused intelligence has cost them their eternal life with and in the presence of God. Their continued existence will most assuredly be the most miserable. Their supreme leader drew them into a conspiracy to defeat Almighty God, and now they're headed for the lake of fire where the worm dieth not. Mark 9:44 The war is over and God knew from the very beginning how all this would come out. He is God and there is none like Him. The devil knows he has lost but he cannot let go of the dream of defeating God. You are his ammunition, his weapon and his target for keeping God from enjoying your presence. He cares nothing about you except as a way to drag a Christian down in the view of the world. He is the most selfish being in the universe. He will go to any length to achieve his egomaniacal goal. A misconception about the devil is that he, like God, can be everywhere at the same time, he cannot. Only God is omnipresent. The devil even promises power beyond belief and it is the only truth you'll find in him-it (the promise) is beyond belief. The devil, his unclean spirits and all who follow him, lose. The stories you read and watch on TV are sadistically and voraciously drawing the untrained mind into the folds of the evil monster. The uninitiated mind sees the fire being thrown, the muscle power, the mind control and ability to fade from one space to another with no more than a thought. They also see some of the bad guys become good guys even to the point where they regain their souls through some great effort on their part. Scripture says that "we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags:" Isaiah 64:6. If all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23), what do we have within us that we can call on to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps? The answer is obvious, nothing. The only salvation we have is through Jesus Christ. He said it himself, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father except through me." (John 14:6) That doesn't leave wiggle room for anyone to become good on their own. Lions and tigers and bears, Oh, my. Devils and demons and Satan, OH, MY! Don't fool around with bears or the devil. They both can hurt you and Satan can do that into the rest of your eternity. That is another paper but suffice it to say, we are born into an eternal life and death only shuffles us down one path or the other where we will continue to spend eternity. Will your choice be miserably in the eternal fires of hell or peacefully in Heaven with God? The choice is yours. Father, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer (Psalm 19:14). Let thy words go forth and never return to thee void. Touch the heart of the reader and warm his heart to his knowledge of you. |

Jesus is standing at the door to your heart
all the time. He is knocking to come in and love you and guide you. He is
offering you the gift of everlasting life, but you must hear Him and open
the door to Him as He will not kick it in.
(Rev. 3:20) A gift is just outside your
heart's door at this time. Will you receive this gift? Will you open the
door to Jesus and let him flood your soul with His love? If so, read the
following paragraph as your prayer.
|
Father, I know that I have sinned and I turn from those ways and ask you to come into my heart and cleanse me. I know that I cannot do this on my own and I need your help. Fill my soul, Lord, and make me whole. I want your will for my life to be preeminent. Help me to grow in your way. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen
