I Don't Love God
Rev. Kenn Francart

     No, I don't love God the way that He loves me. I can't even understand that kind of love. I realize that the love God gives to me, cost Him His Son, Jesus. That love is not the kind of love I could give even to save the world - I'm glad that I don't have to save the world that way. I know me. And at most times, I don't even like me yet He loves me unconditionally. I just don't do the things that I want to do, and I'm constantly doing all the things that bring disgrace to my Saviour's name. In that, I guess, I follow Paul's statement in Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.(KJV) or I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. (NIV).
     There is a song that has within its stanzas "for such a worm as I." So many people, and that includes me, have just glossed over the word more or less thinking it was a cute way of expressing ourselves. The beginning of the song is: "Alas, and did my Saviour bleed, and did my Soverign die? Would He devote that sacred head," Now, it's not so cute. If I put myself in the context of that worm, if the truth be known, even the fish would look elsewhere for their meal. Another version of the song concludes with "for sinners such as I?" I am a sinner saved by Grace and for that I humbly bow and give thanks for my salvation.
     I know that if I made an object that I truly liked, and someone came and stole it away that I would gladly pay the thief to return it. In this case to buy back all or any part (of which I am a part) of God's creation the cost of redemption was to be the sacrifice of His Son on that bloody cross. Jesus bought me back. All this I know and I still don't understand that kind of love. I look forward to the day that I will understand and fully appreciate that love.
     I don't know the man I'm about to quote but he repeated this every day of his life in the ministry and I have taken it unto myself.
     "Lord, take me where you want me to go;
     Let me meet who you want me to meet.
     Tell me what you want me to say
     And keep me out of your way."
     I pray that His love will make me grow into what His will is for me. I pray that my love for Him will grow toward the fuller understanding of His love for us. I further pray for you. I pray that first you will come to know Jesus as your Saviour, second that you will devote your will to His will and third that you will study to know Him in all His Glory. Remember that He will stand before your heart's door and knock for you to come and let Him in. He will never brow beat you into receiving Him but He will never leave you without the opportunity to receive Him freely.
Amen

    Jesus is standing at the door to your heart all the time. He is knocking to come in and love you and guide you. He is offering you the gift of everlasting life, but you must hear Him and open the door to Him as He will not kick it in. (Rev. 3:20) A gift is just outside your heart's door at this time. Will you receive this gift? Will you open the door to Jesus and let him flood your soul with His love? If so, read the following paragraph as your prayer.

    Father, I know that I have sinned and I turn from those ways and ask you to come into my heart and cleanse me. I know that I cannot do this on my own and I need your help. Fill my soul, Lord, and make me whole. I want your will for my life to be preeminent. Help me to grow in your way. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus.
    Amen
