I come to the time each evening,
When darkness is done creeping,
When the moonlight is on the wane,
When slumber time is seeping.
I lie my head on the pillow.
My body prone on the bed.
When my thoughts mull o'er the daystorm,
And Jesus comes into my head.
"I'm going to leave it all with you.
You know what needs to be done.
I sure can't do it without you,
I trust you will guide my run.
"I pray that you will keep me, Lord,
On the straight and narrow way.
Please guide me, Lord, on the morrow,
So my thoughts will not dismay.
"I want your Spirit within me.
I want not to bring you shame.
From the way that I behave, Lord
I want not to soil your name.
"Shelter me safely through the night,
Keep my family from all harm.
If your plans are to take me home,
Keep the family from alarm........
Gratefully, I rise in the morn
Prayer reclaims my mind, but then
The Son is in His full glory
The prayer speaks a glad "Amen"!
