JAMES ROBISON

On Wednesday evening July 31, 1991, evangelist James Robison, of Fort Worth, Texas, spoke for some 55 minutes to a national convention of Booksellers. For quite some time we have been interested in what this energetic preacher has been saying to his audiences. Of all those we have heard on the electronic media, our opinion is that James Robison is speaking more and more pure truth than most..

We obtained from his office a video tape of this sermon from which we have transcribed a portion to share with our readers. We heard Brother Robison define oneness and sameness in a most remarkable way. He clearly refutes the sameness doctrine of the trinity and made separateness of the Father and the Son a living, vivid reality to a large audiences of what appeared to be over 3,000 people. And he asks God to, in his words, "forgive us."

Read all this for yourself. The portion we have copied into a transcript, occurred about 9 minutes into the sermon. No doubt, you will be as happy as we were with what he had to say. In fact, the entire sermon was excellent.

"And I want to declare to you that it is this grace and it is this spiritual oneness, not sameness. God is the author of diversity, He is the author of difference, He is the author of distinctive. He is NOT however the author of dissension and division, enmity and strife, hostility, malice, slander. God is the author of oneness. And I am seeing God bring together those parts of His body that have been separated far too long into a Holy union in the spirit that is going to exalt Jesus as the body is built up into the fullness of Christ. Satan has attacked this possibility. I can assure you that the prayer of Jesus was not a feeble gesture toward good will on the part of men one to the other.

"Jesus prayed that we would be one as He and the Father were one. By the way the Father and the son being one are not the same. We will be one without sameness. In your marriage there is oneness without sameness.

"We have misinterpreted oneness to mean sameness. God forgive us. Jesus not only prayed they would be one as He and the Father were one, but He prayed that the Church would be perfected in unity. The perfection of the Church is the purest possible presentation of the living Jesus possible. That is the perfection of the Church; Jesus Christ alone lifted up that He alone may draw all men unto Himself. Not sectarianism, not denominationalism, not racism, and I assert tonight that denominationalism is as dangerous and Satanic as is racism and they are one and the same. God is not opposed to the races. He created the races. He is not opposed to denominations. He allows us to express our differences and to seek Him with our whole heart. But He is opposed to idolatry and bigotry and unkindness on the part of any person regardless of their race, their background or their denomination. . . . "

The underlining is ours. Brother Robison gives great emphasis to certain words and phrases in his sermon. It is impossible for us to convey his great emphasis with underlining or any other way that we know of. His address is, James Robison Evangelistic Association, P.O.
